Husky week for beginners

​Day 1 – Welcome to Swedish Lapland

Arrival is at your own arrangements. We are happy to organize a rental car or a transfer from Luleå Airport or Boden railway station. Just outside the idyllic village of Överstbyn, the cozy Villa Winterdog awaits you – your home for the coming days.

During a welcome dinner in our traditional Swedish kåta, we will get to know each other and go over the program for the week ahead.

Day 2 – Husky Introduction Tour

Today you will meet the Winterdogs and receive a comprehensive introduction to dog sledding techniques. Afterwards, you will set off on your first tour through the snowy winter landscape. After the tour, we will enjoy a traditional Swedish fika with coffee or tea and sweet pastries.

Day 3 – Half-Day Husky Tour

Now that you have already learned the art of mushing, you can fully enjoy today's tour through the peaceful winter scenery. Along the way, we will take a break and enjoy a hearty lunch cooked over an open fire in a wonderful winter setting.

Day 4 – Husky Snowshoe Hike at the Arctic Circle

We travel by car along quiet country roads, with the chance of spotting moose, reindeer, red foxes, hares, and Arctic birds. After about an hour's drive, we reach our destination in the middle of nowhere.

Accompanied by a cheerful husky, we explore the Arctic landscape on snowshoes around the Arctic Circle and cross it through the iconic gateway, which provides a fantastic photo opportunity. We celebrate the moment with lunch prepared over an open fire.

Day 5 – Full-Day Husky Tour

A full day of husky adventure awaits! The tour covers approximately 30–40 km through snow-covered forests and across frozen bogs, lakes, and rivers. Along the route, we warm up with a hearty lunch around the campfire.

There will be plenty of breaks to take photos, breathe in the crisp Arctic air, and simply enjoy the silence and beauty of the winter wilderness.

Day 6 – Evening Husky Tour

A husky tour after dark is a truly magical experience. The snow sparkles in the moonlight, and thanks to the minimal light pollution, the night sky reveals countless stars. If you're lucky, the Northern Lights will dance above you.

Would you like to drive the sled yourself once more, or would you rather sit back as a passenger and simply enjoy the magical atmosphere? The choice is yours.

Day 7 – Day at Leisure

Relax at the holiday house, explore the surroundings on your own, or join another guided excursion. It's your holiday – spend the day exactly as you wish.

Day 8 – Farewell

Even the most wonderful week must eventually come to an end, but the memories will stay with you forever. Safe travels, and we hope to welcome you back again soon!
