FAQ
Frequently asked questions about your stay or tour with Winterdog
Where is Winterdog located?
Winterdog is located in Överstbyn near Gunnarsbyn in Swedish Lapland, around 75 km from Luleå. Here, you can experience the nature of the far north away from mass tourism – surrounded by peace, vast landscapes and untouched wilderness.
Do I need any previous experience for a husky tour?
No. No previous experience is required for our husky tours. Before every tour, you will receive a detailed introduction and learn how to handle the sled and work with our dogs. For longer tours, however, you should have a reasonable level of fitness.
Are the husky tours private?
Yes. Our husky tours are exclusively for your own group – without other guests joining you. This allows us to focus entirely on you and provide a personal and authentic husky experience.
Is Winterdog suitable for families?
Absolutely! We offer special family packages and adapt our activities to the age of the children. Our family trips focus on shared experiences, nature and, of course, our huskies.
What winter clothing is provided?
For our winter activities, we provide warm winter clothing. Depending on the package, this may include warm boots, a parka or overall, trousers, hat, balaclava and gloves. So you don't need to bring your complete winter wardrobe with you.
Can I put together an individual stay?
Absolutely. In addition to our ready-made travel packages, we can also create individual trips tailored to your wishes. Accommodation, husky tours and other experiences can be combined to suit your plans. We can also help you arrange transfers or a rental car.
Can I book the holiday house on its own?
Yes. Villa Winterdog can also be booked independently of a travel package. If you wish, we can also help you plan additional activities and other parts of your trip.
When is the best time to visit?
It depends on what you would like to experience. In winter, you can enjoy snow, dog sledding and, with a little luck, the Northern Lights. Summer and autumn offer a completely different side of Lapland – with long days, colourful landscapes and plenty of peace and tranquillity. We are happy to advise you on the best time of year for your trip.
What is the best way to get to Winterdog?
Winterdog is located near Luleå. We are happy to advise you on your journey and can arrange transfers or a rental car on request. This makes planning your trip easy and stress-free.
How can I book a trip or husky tour?
The easiest way is to send us a direct enquiry. Simply let us know when you would like to visit, how many people are travelling and what you would like to experience. We will be happy to put together a suitable offer and advise you personally.
