Autumn adventure week in Swedish Lapland with huskies and northern lights

Nature's transformation through the changing seasons is especially captivating in the far north. The colors become more vibrant, the days grow shorter, and the air turns crisp. The Nordic autumn enchants with its breathtaking palette of colors, endless landscapes, a wide range of activities, and the magic of the Northern Lights.

Itinerary of the autumn adventure week in Swedish Lapland

Day 1 – Welcome to the North!

Arrive at your own pace. If you wish, we can arrange a rental car or a transfer from Luleå Airport or Boden Railway Station (see optional services).

Your home for the coming days is the charming Villa Winterdog in the peaceful village of Överstbyn. The cozy cabin features two bedrooms and a private sauna, offering the perfect retreat surrounded by nature. Large windows in the open-plan living and dining area provide stunning views of the forest and the northern sky. With a little luck, you may even witness the magical Northern Lights dancing overhead on your very first evening.

Day 2 – Northern Lights Photo Safari

Spend the morning exploring the beautiful surroundings at your own pace. Just 3 km away, you'll find a small, well-stocked village shop where you can pick up all the essentials for your stay.

In the evening, enjoy a delicious two-course dinner by the fire in a traditional kåta, a cozy Nordic wooden hut used for gathering around the open fire.

After dinner, it's time to set out in search of the magical Northern Lights. We'll take you to our favorite viewing and photography locations and, if you'd like, share practical tips on capturing the aurora with your camera. You'll be well prepared to continue your own Northern Lights adventures over the following evenings.

Day 3 – Hiking with Huskies

Today, you'll be accompanied by a cheerful Siberian Husky who can't wait to explore the forest trails with you. Connected by a comfortable waist belt, you'll experience the strength and enthusiasm of your four-legged companion as you hike through the stunning northern wilderness.

Hiking with huskies is a wonderful way to stay active while slowing down and immersing yourself in nature. Breathe in the fresh forest air, listen to the sounds of the wilderness, and reconnect with the natural world at an unhurried pace.

During the excursion, we'll stop to enjoy a hearty lunch prepared over an open campfire—the perfect opportunity to relax and soak up the peaceful surroundings before continuing your adventure.

Day 4 – Husky Training Adventure

Autumn marks the beginning of the training season for our huskies. Join us for an exciting ride aboard a training cart, pulled by an enthusiastic team of 8–10 sled dogs as they prepare for the winter ahead.

Experience the thrill of watching these incredible dogs do what they love most while taking in the breathtaking colors of the northern autumn landscape. After the tour, it's time to reward the team with well-earned treats—and, of course, plenty of cuddles and affection.

Days 5–7 – Time to Explore and Unwind

The next few days are yours to enjoy at your own pace. A variety of fascinating destinations can easily be reached by your own car or a rental car, including the Arctic Circle Centre, the spectacular Storforsen Rapids, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Gammelstad Church Town. A day trip to Jokkmokk is also highly recommended, where you can visit the outstanding Ájtte – Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum.

We're happy to share our favorite hiking routes and hidden gems or arrange additional activities for you to make your stay even more memorable (see optional services).

In the evenings, return to the comfort of your holiday home, relax in your private sauna, and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the northern wilderness—far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

It's time to say goodbye to your new two- and four-legged friends. We wish you a safe journey home and hope to welcome you back to the North again soon!
